hey all quick ? changed my tc fluid today. drove it up on ramps drained it, filled it while on ramps took off ramp topped fluid off, only took 1 3/4 quarts of atf, book calls for 2.2 roughly in my np 231. its was running out the top plug so i think im ok this sound fine too u guys thanks

If you cant fit anymore in the fill hole then your good. There was a little left in there from when you drained I'm sure, you never get 100% of it. Your fine

fill in on flat ground. i think it takes like 2-3 qts. you can get all the fluid out if you open the case, but if its not having problems its easier to just drain and fill

Well, I turned my rear drive into a pretzel while 4wheeling yesterday. I filled the TC 2 times during the 30 mile drive to where I could fix it. So, of course all of the fluid ran right out the rear TC output as soon as I started driving. Then I filled it again after replacing the drive shaft. It took about a 1.5 quarts roughly each time.

I have to put in a plug for the tuffness of the NP231 TC. I ran that sucker pretty much dry for 30 miles in 4HI running off front drive only and it made it with no problems.
