Am I the only one failing so miserably-Header
Am i the only one who is failing so miserably to get the header to seat properly?
replaced the cracked factory exhaust manifold with a stainless single collector header from speed Daddy... leaked profusely from cylinder 1 & 2 even after much adjusting and tightening
round two quality felpro metal composite gasket middle out tightening persistent leak from one and two but much less
does the thickness of the header flange have anything to do with this or what the hell

Check to see the flanges are all true, meaning they are all flat to each other. Use a 48" ruler to lay across all flanges and see if there are any gaps at the flange surfaces.
Some el cheapo manifolds are junk. I bought a manifold for $35 and had to have a machine shop mill the flanges down until they were square.
Still have it if someone wants it.

Best Cure I've Found for Exhaust Manifold Issues.
Gone thru the "Custom/CNC & Hand Welded/ Solid Stainless Header Deals!
Just Man Up & Buy a Stainless OEM Exhaust Manifold w/ the Flex Pipe on the Front & Back Cylinder Tubes. It Will Solve All your Problems.
IIRC Same Design as the Factory Orig. for '98 thru '01 & an Upgrade on the TJ or maybe JK of the same Years w/ 4.0 H.O. Inline 6 Cyl.
Got a Similar one on my '96 & it Flows & Sounds Great.
Got it off FleaBay thru a Reliable Dealer w/ 99.7% Feedback.
Just My 2 Cents & I've been runnin It w/ Zero Leaks & Increased Performance Over the HEADERS.
It also Clicks & Pops Less when it cools down, when parked, after a Hard & Fast Highway Commute.
Nothing But Pluses & Relatively Cheap Too!

Lean Cond. & Rough Idle Are Classic Symptoms of an Exhaust Leak
(Affects the O2 Sensors)
Hate Sensor Vehicles, But We're Stuck w/ them w/ Fuel Injection & EPA Laws!
If I Ever Make or Win a Bunch of Money, I'm gonna Pull All of the Sensors & Change Over to an Ol School Dual Plane Manifold w/ a 3 Barrel Holley & just Run a 3 Wire Ignition. Better HP & Mileage. Screw the Emissions!
Probably Better than a Bad Runnin Sensor Controlled Fuel Inj. System on Emissions Anyway!
