Even if it was legal do everyone the favor of having it so we can breath and future generations can enjoy the outdoors as well.

Exactly Im surprised that the shop let you leave with out one its a HUGE thing. Your jeep will not run correctly unless you have one not to mention your blowin out NOX which is killing all of us lol. Pick up a high flow one from summit there like 70 bucks.

There is another benefit of having the cat. The engine ECM is programed to control emissions with the presence of some exhaust in the cylinders. It assumes you have the cat there and tries to run accordingly. When you get more exhaust out, then the ECM tries to maintain the same emissions it would with the presence of exhaust and thus changes the air/fuel mixture. The resulting new mixture does not have as much horsepower available in it, so the engine runs worse.

It is also illegal to tamper with the factory cat unless there is a failure.

I dont know about the rest of you, but being a former smog tech in California the laws in this country have gotten to be just a little to much like fascism to me.
Sorry for the to deep analogy for some, but we have got to know that when a law states it is a federal offense when you do something like take a cat off to check engine performance and that is a federal offense well its just going to far!

You can thank those "facist" smog laws enacted back in the 60's that you can inhabit and breathe in California today.

Since the prevailing winds are west to east in the US, I'm glad I'm not breathing California smog from 6 states away.

Ya I know you did not take it off, but that is the point I am making.
If the law states what it does in all reality you could be liable for the federal offense of the cat being off.
Hey I am not trying to cause a problem here I just would like us to think a little about what is going on around us in our government.
I could even be called out for talking like this online, and that my friend is fascism at it worst or best how ever you want to look at it.
I stopped being a smog tech for this very reason and all my friends who do the smog program here in California have said the same thing to me, some even are getting out of the program because it has gotten so bad with the BAR and how they do things.

Hey its not the cars that have caused the problem here in california but the factories, and those animals that put out all that feared methane gas, lol.
I agree that something had to be done about the smog from the cars, but there is point you have to see in how those laws have been inforced, like the common citzen is a law breaker.
We cant even water our lawns here in fear of the water police ticketing us.
Enough said I will leave it alone, but when you go wheelin in the mountains here in California be prepared to be dissapionted at how many trials are being closed here in fear of us ruining the forest.

Some of the best air I have breathed is on the coast here, so what do we do ban all gas run vehicles in the country?
