There are internals you can swap to make your alternator put out more amps.

You have the Delco CS-130. They're easy to upwind - check around for a shop in your area.

The later (1991-up) alternators will not work for your rig. They are externally-regulated Nippondenso units that have a larger frame size than the Delco. However, parts abound for the Delco, and most shops can overhaul one in about ten minutes (unless they want to clean everything first - then it should be about an hour. Most of it spent in the parts cleaner...)

Check your Yellow Section under "Automotive" for a starter/alternator rewind house. If you can't find one locally, I talked mine into doing mail-order a few years back - click the link in my sig, scroll down, and go to San Jose Generator. You'll deal with Rod directly, and he does keep banker's hours (his only flaw.) But, you'll be talking to the guy who does the work and the testing. I can count on the fingers of one nose how many times he's let me down over the years...

I know you can pick up a 100a autolite alt from kragen for less than 100$ at least last time I checked. Rock auto has some alternators also. Last time I looked at that they had 125a and 200a as well.
