not trying to turn attention away from the current issue but... last weekend I had bought a super clean stock 98 that the seller told me had a brand new alternator. it was running fine until last night when the needle dropped off the voltmeter. I quickly turned around and went home to find that the negative terminal and the wire on the back of the alternator had been completely fried. any idea what might of caused this and if just changing the alternator will fix it?

Just a thought and not trying to be nasty, but why not start your own thread?

PS: I wish I had one of your polar bears and his normal climate down here in SE Texas right now!!
