I'm buying a new alternator for my 2001 XJ. Brands listed are ACDelco new or reman, BBB, Remy, Pure Energy. Any one have any experience or preference, good or bad, with these brands? Thanks

 

Can’t go wrong with Denso.

Nvm. I don’t see a denso for a 2001 anywhere.

 

Mine seized and I had to replace it in a hurry. O'Reilly's sold me a Precision Brand (life time guarantee) To my surprise, It has worked well for two years now

 

Also make sure for your XJ's original build that you get the alternator with the correct output. If yours is a service model it might have a higher output one as standard.
I haven't had to replace mine yet....but that's what I was told about the standard build vs. the service build XJ's... like Police package, Forest service, etc.

 

Concentrate on country of origin more than brand.

 

I replaced mine with #12106 117 amps from AZ in 2008. Last week locked up briefly (bearings, cause when it spun it has output) so brought it back to AZ where they gave me a warranty exchange.

I use AZ when I need now cause there's 3 within minutes and the warranties are usually pretty good.
