So my buddy just purchased a 87 xj with the 2.5, the aero belt was Mia when he bought it so now he is trying to get it running.

As you can see from the pics the alternator is as far forward as possible but is still not in line.

What do you guys see wrong that were missing?

I thought sure '87 came with V-belts, not serpentine. Did someone do a conversion?

To my knowledge no stock XJ had the alternator mounted up there. It looks like it was retrofitted and then someone gave up cause it wouldn't line up lol.

Alternator is mounted in place of the A/C compressor?

That's what we were thinking, we had seen some serp belt diagrams that had the ac up top and alternator on bottom. I guess we can try and swap them around.
