Default alright bowtie!! cel is on!!!

i know you've been waiting so after i found out my new cps that was testing bad was actually good.... i did a test to see if i had spark and i didn't so i replaced my coil and charged my battery for a little while... IT STARTED!!!!!! haha i drove it around and it was a lot snappier but it started flooding itself out when i stopped at stop signs. but once it came to a complete stop it would come out of it. drove it to my local mechanic and it finally threw a code!!! code 51 so what ya think?

Code 51: O2 sensor; lean condition detected. Check O2 sensor and sensor circuit and check for vacuum leaks.

If you want to check for vacuum leaks, grab a can of carb cleaner, and spray your vacuum lines, and intake/throttle body areas with the engine running (Just not in, that will make any engine do something). Wherever the idle straightens out/idles better/idles higher, that's where your leak is at.

As for testing an O2 sensor, I don't know if I have a test procedure anywhere...Maybe someone else might...

Oh yeah, I almost forgot....that's your upstream O2 sensor...

the mechanic at the garage tested the voltage on the o2 sensors and one read 3.5v and the other read 5v. not really sure what there suppose to be at?? i'll try testing for vacum leaks but would that cause it to dump fuel into it?? it floods out an awful lot. its bone stock and i only get 16mpg's so i imagine something ain't rite. it waste way to much fuel!! like give you a headache bad!!! thanks

Even though it's not throwing a code, a coolant temp sensor can cause it to dump fuel. I would obviously change the O2 sensor first because of the code. I had a truck once that always ran rich and never throw a code. one day lookin at the data, i noticed coolant temp at zero but it was 65 out. That was causing it to dump fuel.

if your o2 sensor is telling your ecu its running lean it will def dump more fuel into the engine. im looking for the procedure to test the o2 sensor will get back to you on that.

Testing the O2 Sensor

With the engine off, and at normal operating temperature, disconnect the sensor electrical connector, insert the positive probe of a high-impedance voltmeter into the connector terminal (on the sensor side) and ground the negative lead. Start the engine and check to see if the reading fluctuates between 0.1 and 1.0 Volts (100 to 1000 millivolts). If it doesn't, the sensor is faulty and should be replaced.
On some models, the sensor incorporates a heating element. With the engine cold, unplug the sensor connector and touch the ohmmeter leads across the white terminals. The reading should be between 5 and 7 Ohms. The sensor is faulty if the ohmmeter displays and open circuit (infinite resistance).
