Default Almosted died today

I was prepping the bolts on the tank with wd-40 and and I put a oil collector thing under my tank to drain the gas so I just punched a hole in the bottom thinking what the heck i am going to replace it anyway and it all drained I ran inside real fast then thought what if the fuel sending unit conector wires are different from my 93s so I went under there to look and holy cow the fumes I had forgotten the gas in the oil collecter but my question is will a fuel send unit work from a 96 Cherokee into a 93 Cherokee

Go onto a parts website and search for the unit on the 93' then do the same on the 96' and if they part number is the same then it will work. If it doesn't still may work but i wouldn't know.
