U know i havent tried it since i dropped the column, but before that i did try it and it sparked, even took it to auto zone to test it. And it passed.
U think i might of fried the starter after dropping the column, adjusting the ign. switch, replacing it, and testing the starter again?

So when i started taking apart the column, i dropped it to have more room, and thats when it started. so im pretty sure the starter is working.

ok...first off if you jumped your solenoid on the starter and it did NOT start... then its your starter... yeah it tested good at autozone... but maybe the time they tested it... it would have started... doesnt matter... its different when you stick a flywheel to it... REPLACE the starter... my 98 dodge diesel did the same thing... eventually the started went all together after leaving me stranded... if you install a new starter and it does NOT fix your problem then you DO NOT have a good connection at your battery, starter, or ground for the battery at the engine block... i KNOW you love your battery and the wireing but if it wasnt one of these things or the starter then jumping the soleoid WOULD start the jeep... as for the switch to start without the clutch in... from the factory its a safety switch... when the switch fails it fails to constant ON... i have a 5 speed and mine starts without the clutch in also... but the switch it high and id rather spend my money elsewhere... change your starter... then send me a case of beer later... lol

no but i have onlin manuals i have downloaded.
whoa, lol that was pretty straight forward. and by far you are right.
But DAMN, Isnt it jus weird ? I mean im always told if it aint broke dont fix it. Well the starter wasnt broke, so i instead of spending 60 bucks, jus spent 10 for the switch. But i mean yeah i might as well get a new starter.
I guess my only real thing to do is get a starter.
The connection is good cuz power is getting through, might be the ground though.....
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
lol haha that felt better.

OK GUYS every vehicle ive ever had has been a 5 speed, and the only one ive driven that had the switch or button that keeps your vehicle from starting if the clutch is not in, that you are mentioning is on a 2004 toyota tacoma, and its not on defaultly. The no clutch start is a slightly newer feature that doesnt even exist on my 95, so his 88 would most likely not have that. Coming from experience of running a car through a garage door when i didnt put the clutch in lol
