All time 4 wheel drive grinding when turning

Default All time 4 wheel drive grinding when turning
Hey guys,
ok so we've had our share of snow and ice here in the midwest. that said i've had to put my 97 XJ sport in 4 wheel drive several times to get around. If i'm going in a straight line all is well, but when i turn (either direction) i get a pretty intense grinding noise/feeling. if i take it out of 4 wheel drive all is well.
any thoughts? thanks

It could mean the drivetrain is binding up because there is too much traction.

Wheel bearing? Worn or broken steering component?

You said it happens when in 2wd correct?
