Default All Lights But Headlights work?

OK so. I ended up in the ditch. Air borne and all that scary crap. Then one night driving home head lights started flickering when i went over bumps. Then they just turned off. I really am not too big on electrical crap. More coz I hate trying to read wiring diagrams then anything. But point is I replaced the switch on the dash to turn the headlights on and what not. I also replaced the #15 fuse. No more fuses have blown.

My high beams stopped working a few months before I left for basic training in June i think. But I really dont remember when to be honest. That im not giving too much of a crap about because I HAD headlights.

So lets see. The headlights turned off then magically came back on. Then again turned off after I went over a set of rail road tracks. I dont know what I did but they turned on again just to turn off again.

Could it be the muti function switch? (High beams, low beams, wipers, turn signals) I mean I was told that might be why my hight beams are gone. If it isnt then what in the world is it? I kinda need my Jeep to have lights again. And soon!

Yes, that is certainly a possibility.

Well then I guess I might as well purchase one. Though if it isnt im out 60 bucks. Advance Auto doesnt allow returns if you install it...

Got any other ideas before I go buy a part just so i can go check some stuff right away?

Have you pulled out the light to make sure the connector is fully plugged in and clean? Mine has a 3 prong plug that connects to the lights.

Otherwise check for shorts along the circuit. Running in to a ditch could have knocked something loose and driving over bumps could have fully removed it.

Best to trouble shoot and remove possibilities before spending money on things.

Well try a switch and if it doesn't work then return it. Just tell them you never installed it and figured out the problem lol.

i think something is loose. instead of blaming it on the switch itself check the wires to the switch

if you checked everything and verified groujnds and such with a test light i still dont think its your switch. i have a write up for the switch but its for 97 and up dont think it will help but i will post anyway. check the conncetors behind the steeringwheel. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/w...-97-xj-620147/

Check for an intermittent ground, if you have no ground, headlamps won't work, then if you have ground they work. You could have broken a ground wire when you went into the ditch.
