Default airbags deployed

Hello, my daughter rearended someone last week and the airbags were deployed.
No one was hurt and the damage isn't too bad... Needs new font end parts and air bags.
This is a 2000 sport.
My question... When installing replacement bags, what else needs to be replaced if anything. Obviously both bags need to be replaced but are there other components that need to be replaced as well.
I've read a little about the clock spring but am not sure of it function. Air bag light is on. Does airbag control modual need to be replaced as well. Possible the crash sensor?
Thanks in advance for your help....

I have 4 xj's.... 3 - 2000s and a 2001 non running project. My 3 kids each drive one.

You'll have to replace the dash/steering wheel components that were ripped open by the airbags.

The clock spring will need to be replaced.

Honestly, I'd replace the entire column and be done with it.

Also, like you said the airbag module will need to be replaced.

There is no crash sensor.

Thanks,
So my shoping list will be:
Air bags (dash and steering wheel)
Clock spring
Airbag control module (under center console)
Dash and steering wheel covers.
Others?

Can anyone explain what this clock spring does?
I thought there was a sensor (accelerometer) located behind the front bumper?
Thanks again...

The clock spring is part of the airbag circuit. It's usually damaged when the airbag goes off.

IMO, it's easier to grab a column that it is to grab a clock spring. Takes WAY less time to install a column than a clock spring but that's just me.

I've had to front of my 98 XJ completely apart. There's no sort of sensor on the front. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's in the airbag module. Not 100% sure on that. I just know there's not one on the front.

Air bags (dash and steering wheel)
Clock spring
Airbag control module (under center console)
(passenger) Dash cover

That's all you need.

Did it have cruise control? If not,I have a clock spring for sale.

I can pull a clock spring out in less than 10 minutes. The only specialty tool you need is a steering wheel puller.
