air intake
hey guys i just recently bought a wrecked 1998 jeep cherokee, the frame was crumpled on the drivers side where the air intake box is and i had to replace that.(if you want to see what i mean here is a link to my build) i got a new piece of frame to replace the crumpled piece and got it mocked up. in the picture i posted in this there is no hole in the frame for the neck of the air intake box to go through. is this normal? if not will i need to cut?

No hole in the metal, just a hole in the front of the air filter box. Somewhat cool air travels around the head light, around the rad support and into the air box....not a true CAI but not bad either. No hole somewhat protects the air box from a direct shot of high water.

so i should shorten the air filter box neck? so the air goes onto the box between the radiator and headlight?

ok i just did a little research and i ust want to verify.( i may have found why encountered this problem) is the intake neck on a 97-01 shorter than and 91-96? my new one is out of a 92. is my problem simply the neck is too long on the new airbox?
