Air Filter question
I have noticed a lot of people with the aftermarker airfilter installed and I am considering one myself but... I see some with a heat shield or sitting in the old air box and some just laying loose without any shield. My thought is it needs to be sheilded but is it needed? I am thinking of doing this myself soon and wonder whats the best way to get the most cool air in? Also is it possible to move the intake to the other side where it seems to be a little cooler and has a fan that keeps air flowing? BTW it is for my 2001 sport auto.

the easiest and cheapest to start with is to....drill a buttload of 5/16" holes into the lower portion of the airbox (all the sidewalls, below the filter)....then, buy some DEI heat shield and wrap the heck out of the upper portion and intake tube to TB....that's what i did originally...and i've used a heat shield and canister, but the large **** open ended cone is the best for my daily environment...i'm using a pacesetter in my sig, but am in the process of fabricating my own custom intake....should be ready in a few weeks...
