I recently got my AC going in my 1990 xj...2 problems still exist and before I take it back apart, I wanted to post it here and see if any one else has had this problem.

1) I have no dash lights at this panel....all my other dash lights work but all of the ac controls are dark...I am assumeing it has bulbs that could be burnt out but I didnt see any last time I had this apart...also, my cigarette lighter, rear wiper button and power trans button do not light up...does anyone know if these are suppose to?...I have an after market radio and I wasnt sure if possibly the original had lights on the bottom that shined down on the ac controls...

2) also, my fan switch is either wide open on high or if you select the next lower speed, it all goes off....not sure if these are related?

 

Fan issue is most likely the resistor pack. Classic symptom is all or nothing.
