90 xj. A/C empty. Convert to r134 instructions? Or find and repair then evacuate and recharge with r12, if I can find it!

 

I would convert to r134 , 1st you need to find out where the leak is and fix it . you need to change the a/c oil then recharge it with about 10% less r134 but some times you can give it a full charge , you do need to use a set of gauges to see the pressures .

 

Yes to the R134 conversion.. If you can find some R12 it's very expensive! Unless you're VERY handy, I'd leave the conversion to a good AC specialist.

 

I have all the tools necessary to do the work. I use to work for ARA installing ac in cars all day. I later worked for Volkswagen and installed ac in Volkswagens when the need would arise.
I'm thinking replace all the o rings and the front compressor seal before anything else. It's been a long time and I'm not familiar with r134. What type, and how much, oil to use and how much r134 to put in. Any pointers would be appreciated.
