2001 jeep Cherokee xj. Recently replaced the steering gear. Two days later the air bag light keeps turning on and off. I checked all my fuses and they are all good. What else can I check?

^^^ This. But that's not always the case. I've replaced my clock spring with a "good used" on and still had an intermittent airbag light. I recently put in a brand new clock spring and still no change. My next attempt to fix this will be changing the buss connections behind the dash cluster.

 

Is it safe to drive like this for a few days?

 

Well, your air bag may or may not work (which is kind of a risk anyway, they are only warranted for 10 years, if i recall correctly). I suggest not gettin into an accident It's not like your brakes are failing.

 

So many of these fail in many manufacturers vehicles.
