Default Age, gravity and their effect on power windows.

The front passenger door window on my 98 Cherokee Classic just slid down into the door.

Power window motor no longer has any control over the window.

From inside the door... I can raise and lower the window on the guides.

But it slides down with gravity.

Where do I start looking for the broken part?

And yes.... I already stuck a 2x2 board in there to hold it in place for the time being...

I had the same thing happen to me on my 98 sport. Turns out it was my power window regulator. Found one in my local bone yard put it in and it works like a champ now

Is the motor working? If so, it might be "cable" where it terminates at he window. Swapping in a JY regulator should fix the problem, but there are several ways to skin this cat. There is a low budget method ( you'll have to search for this one) and one from Steiger Performance (app. $40). Search for them as well........

Thanks all!
Found a blog spot with a simple fix.
The Cotter Pin trick.
Worked great.
