If you find that your antenna connection is ok, try to find someone who can check the tuner. I have an aftermarket (Blaupunkt Montreal) that the tuner just quit on.

Sitting in the passenger seat, the plastic panel to the right of where your feet would rest, pop that off. That is where there is a weak point in the antenna, its a spring clip and they like to let loose after a couple years.
You do realize the tuner has nothing to do with reception, the "tuner" is a potentiometer.
And dont, check the warranty on the head unit.

thanks- found that connection and it came apart to the touch-
should I just replace the antenna down to that connection- b/c that part of the connection is totally screwed.

If you have any skills with wiring, I cut, soldered and heatshrunk mine together. Just make sure you keep the two leads separated, replacing the whole wire is an option.

I had the same issue with mine when i got it. This is where the issue was. I reconnected mine and used electrical tape to keep it together. Has held up over the past 6 years fine

Therefore it is not the headunit and you should narrow it down to the antenna/cable.

You must have a VERY old unit as pots have not been used in 20 years. There is an IC in there that actually does the tuning and they CAN go bad. The easiest way to tell is to hook up a known working unit to your antenna.

Potentiometer is still used....thats what varies the signals to usually a 64 pin XNor started IC. But I wouldnt know, Im only Advanced MECP and took 3rd in NJ for Mobile Electronic Installations.
