after market temp gauge?
Ok so on my 88 cherokee i6. My in dash temp gauge is wigging out. I bought an aftermarket gauge but im not sure where to put it?
i know where the original sensor is, but it looks to me like its not in a water jacket? Its on the intake?
Maybe there is a water jacket in there, but where would i add my new temp gauge? Just replace my OEM one with this one?
Lol may be a dumb question.
thanks for the help

Most overall accurate reading will be with the sending unit located as close as possible to where hot coolant exits the head. Might have to get creative/do a little searching on "how to install a coolant temp sending unit".

What about the original sending unit for my stock gauge? Would that location work?
My gauge now works sometimes but usually is just pegged out on the hot side. Maybe just fixing my original gauge is the way i need to go?
Where would i look to check connections? Unsure of the wiring for my sensor.

Where is the original sending unit location?.....it may not work well for a aftermarket gauge. I'm not sure about Renix XJs (wiring).....maybe cruiser will be along to help out.

You can use the OEM location in the back of the head, that sender is for the gauge only. The CTS for engine management is down in the block.
If your gauge intermittently goes full-hot, have you checked the signal wire for shorts to ground? Tried replacing the sender?
