Angry Adventures in u joint land

Upon buying my xj I found that the front right ujoint is broken. I am having a hellof a time getting the caps off. Any sudgestions??

Big vise, a socket the same size as the cap on one side and a socket bigger than the cap on the other. Tighten vise. Beat vise with hammer. Throw hammer at vise.

google it and a write up will pop up im gonna be doin the same thing soon, but the guy put the shafts in a vise and let the ears on one of them rest on the vise while he hit the other shaft with a hammer and it popped them right out, other than that i would say heat and pb blaster

I just did some U joints and I ended up cutting the U joint out and then the caps came right out with afew hits from the hammer. Tryed a vise, heat everything, but the cut off wheel worked.

Yeah. It was just a compilation of two things. Rust and bent forks. They were so warped that the first I put in blew up. Literaly. But I heated and str8tend the forks and yes I heat treated it again so no metal Worries. It's fixed now
