Default Adj Track Bar...which one to buy?

I need a new track bar. I currently have a 3" lift on the XJ and will probably go higher in the future.

I am looking for a nice track bar that will work for the 3" and then still be good with possibly a 4.5" down the road.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have looked at RC and RE. What others would anyone suggest?

I am in the same boat. I am at 3-ish now and need a new one. The TRE on mine is shot. Do some research on ones that are in your price range. It also kinda depends on what you want to spend, and what you want type of wheeling you will do with it. Looking at your avatar I would say mild-ish??

The RC track bar that is around $150 is for 4-6 inches of lift, I think you need a drop pitman arm for it. Aulthough you can get one of those at the JY off of a ZJ. If you are only at 3" now your axle wont be straight under your jeep until you lift it. Do a generic search for it. There were a few guys on NAXJA I think who didnt like it

The RE 1600 goes for about $165 and I think is good for about 3-5 inches. Some of the forum reviews love this one, and others hate it. There is a heim joint at the frame side which you have to drill a larger hole in the frame mount to fit. Some people have found this to be a pain in the ***, and I dont think heims are supposed to be as strong?

RRO makes one for around $109, I dont remember the exact lift height, but it is close to the 3-6 range. There was a jeep magazine who did a review on this one and they hated it. They had to weld a few things, and it was rusty when it got to them in the mail.

There is also the good old Rusty's bar. The small one goes for $129 and is good for the 3-5 inch range. There is also a HD one but that is for over 4" and is $189. The rustys bar was known for breaking on trails when being wheeled hard. According to the site they have made some improvements to it, and it is now thicker. I have run into guys who both love and hate rustys for a whole bunch of reasons. Their expensive shipping is one of them. I have a buddy with an XJ who runs one of their track bars, and wheels it pretty hard. his has served him well. It is also a plus that the end is a TRE which is already found on the XJ

Hope that doesent confuse you any more!!!

I was kinda leaning toward the rustys one, but I am curious what others have to say about them. I am just not able to spend/justify the cost of some of the others when I dont do the type of wheeling that necessitates them

Thanks for the info. It is actually for my other XJ that I am building up and not for the one in my Avatar (DD). Have you heard anything about the Iron Rock Track bar? It looks pretty beafy and the price is decent ($140). I am not too concerned with price. I want a good one that I will not have to replace later. The RC one seems a bit cheap. I am kind of leaning toward the RE, but want some opinions on the Iron Rock.

x2. Guy makes em beefy as hell, and a real good warranty. I got upper and lower control arms on the way....should be delivered today actually!!! I would advise calling or emailing him directly. Sometimes if you are willing to wait a bit, he might cut ya a deal

I like the idea, sounds great. However I have some concerns.

I've been friends with guys that have started their own companies. I've got one specific guy in mind right now. He used to make tubular manifolds for high power DSMs. I knew the guy quite well. Had I needed a manifold as large as his I would have bought one without hesitation.

Fast forward a few years, he's out of business. He had a "lifetime warranty" but now that he's not doing this anymore, all his previous customers, if needed, can't get any warranty work done.

Things happen, life sucks.

My point is, right now he's a one man show. What happens if things change? He's not a large corporation with years of experience with a store front of sorts, so there is a chance he'll go out of business. So what happens then?

OP needs it to work for his 3" lift as well. Do these work with smaller lifts as well?

Since I am also in the market, I just sent an email to the guy to see if the RK bar would fit, or if he had anything that would fit. I will post when I hear something back for the OP if he is intersted
