Default Adding Cruise Control

I have an XJ SE that didn't come with cruise control and I want to know what I'd need and how much it would cost to add cruise control for long trips and such lol. I couldnt find any threads on here that gave me an answer and I haven't found any kits out there that will fit my jeep so i'll most likely have to peice together parts to get this thing to work.

The Rostra you have pictured, does not come with the controls. (Set/Coast/On-Off).

Rostra is about the only game in town. They were Dana once upon a time, and build really good products. I have been installing them for years. The last one was on a Toyota 4X4 truck that used a Honda "branded" control I got on Feebay for $29.00 complete.

#1 question is "How does my Jeep sense speed"....either a VSS typically electrical, or a cable to the speedo. Once you know that, you can go with just about any kit.
Do not use the wireless remote for controls (Set/Coast/On-Off). The batteries have crappy lives.

Here is yours

Notice you get a universal kit, then you need to add the switches!

The switch I use most often is the Rostra Cruise Control Switch 250-3421, there is a left and right hand version....but the right hand may be listed for the Honda's.

Best guess is you want something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rostra-250-1223-...item1e6256561a

The 250-1223 is the universal kit, then you will still need to add the switches (stalk) of your choice.

My $29.00 Honda set up included the 1223 and a right hand version of the same switch (stalk)

If you need more vacuum (the Yota was a 4 banger), I used 2 inch PVC pipe and a vacuum fitting, painted flat black, tucked behind the brake booster. Worked like a charm.

what if you install a column that has cruise controls on it, is there a plug that may be under the dash that just plugs in? or do you need a control module still?

If the column already has switches, you may be able to use them. Contact Rostra to confirm.
