Default Acceleration hesitation.

So, I've got an 89' renix 4.0l xj.

So it has a bad hesitation when I accelerate from a stop, usually from pulling out onto a street, or from a stop at a sign or light. I will ease onto the gas usual based on the reaction of a car in front of me and it falls on its face. It idles at 1k and when I ease onto the gas, the rpm gauge will peg out and then come back to 1k and from there you're good, until I stop again. If I nail the gas it usually doesn't do it, but I can't do that driving in town. Anybody have any ideas? They're greatly appreciated.

Things to note:
The air filter is in good shape.
The fuel filter was replace some 7k miles ago
Engine vacuum lines were recently replaced.
Oil change was done just less than 1k miles ago.
Recently ran injector cleaner through it, but it didn't change anything, and it runs good other than the hesitation, so I don't think it's those.

How old are the plugs, wires, cap and rotor?

Actually, back when I bought the jeep: late last July, I did a full tuneup. I.e Wires, plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter. The whole shebang.

The O2S NGK part number for an '89 4.0 XJ is 23553.

Or, the TPS is NFG. If you nail it and it's okay, there may be a dead spot in the TPS variable resistor that is giving you issues.

54 will walk you through this.

I posted recently about a somewhat similar issue, and there was some good info posted in my thread about testing the TPS, so it might be useful to you.

Okay. I've actually replaced the 02 sensor already. As for the TPS, I've yet to test it.

So I hadn't seen the link to the tips section earlier, but I've since looked at it. It's really awesome! A great thing to stumble upon. I'll take a better look at them and my xj in the morn when it's light out, but I can tell you the tips list in its entirety should be of great use.

Hey cruiser54, my 89 Xj's radio and cigarette light stopped working the other day. Any ideas on what I should look to trouble shoot at? My blower works, my turn signals/backup light/head lights all work. Not a single under-the-dash fuse is blow. I'm kinda dumbfounded ive checked my positive and ground battery terminals and they're fine.

Fuse 2, 15 amp, marked Radio in upper left hand area of fusebox. Test it with a test light with key On.
