I have a few questions, I'm not sure if all XJ AC settings (defrost, vents, floor, etc) are the same but this is on a 2000. First, when I start the vehicle with the AC off, the actuator for the recirculation door starts sucking and the door opens. Is this normal or should it only suck when I turn the AC to that setting? Also, when the AC is on, a small amount of air blows out the defrost. It doesn't blow out the defrost vent completely, but just the right side, so sometimes Ill see the windshield build up a cold spot, due to that. Is all this normal or is there actuators that may be giving out or anything else?

 

Sounds like a HVAC malfunction under/behind the dash (flapper doors/actuators malfunctioning/leaking air)......recirc should work only when the vent selector (middle ****) is in the recirc position.
