AC pulley problem
Well, to start the pulley/clutch on my cherokee seized up and will not move. Causing the belt to burn up and making my xj useless. So bascially is there an easy fix to this. I was thinking about maybe just buying a belt for a cherokee without ac. Will this work, if i just rerouted my belt and avoided the ac compressor all together? I couldnt find any diagrams online for this, or any other info saying if its possible. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Sawyer

You can get an AC delete pulley and bracket. You can also get a compressor from Daveys Jeeps for about $100, pay someone to discharge and reinstall it and you are good to go. Either will solve the problem.
I am assuming you have a 4.0 equipped xj, and as far as I know there is no belt that will work w/o going around the AC pulley. I am not saying that rerouting your belt isnt an option, just that I have never done it, and cant point you in the right direction.
For a cherokee? if that is the case that would mean there is an AC delete option, or a bracket/idler pulley that can go there.
I know on the 2.5 xj/mj there was an ac delete option and a bracket for that.

you wont be able to route a belt and make everything turn in the proper direction without that pulley. I would find a junk compressor and swap it out and just disconnect the electrical connector and let the AC pulley freewheel. There is another recent thread that had the same question and someone said you could use the pulley/bracket from some car (don't remember which one) just do a search and you will find it.

you can get a non ac belt but you also would need to remove the compressor and get another idler pully that mounts lower than the ac ive seen the diagram but its really just worth it to go to autozone and get your ac compressor bypass pully that bolts right in with out issues, its def a super easy swap and hella cheap
