If you haven't had your sytem converted to R134a it will not work.

Like the other guys said only if your system was converted to R134 other wise no it won't work and you will need to use R12.

if it is still stock it is R12, R134a didn't become standard for XJs until 1995. The easiest way to check is to look at the service port, R12 systems have threaded service ports (similar to a tire valve stem), R134a systems have a quick connect service port.
