Default AC Lines and coolant questions.

My neighbor works for Honda and he said he could check and charge my air conditioning. Upon charging, we discovered my "low pressure" line is either clogged or broken. Everything works minus this line. So my questions are as follows.

1. Is the low pressure line the discharge liquid line or is it called the low pressure line?
2. What is this AC switch and what does it do?

My temp gauge in this hot weather seems to be sitting above 210. My fans are working, and if I lay on the throttle, I do blow a little white smoke. I've done a few searching on here and it can be a few things, a cracked head, head gasket or some little things. I was reading And I guess the lower radiator hose can be an issue but I need to find one with a "spring." Is their some truth to this or what?

Their is no coolant in the oil and my plugs are clean and not wet. I do plan on getting this issue fixed. I am not OVERHEATING, I am just running hotter then usual and slightly burning coolant. No power loss or chugging. So I hope this is an easy fix,

Thanks

The low pressure line (suction), is the one that gets cold. The high pressure line (discharge) gets hot. What cooling system maintenance has/has not been done?

I was just getting my system recharged. As far as I know, everything was in working order until the hose was clogged.

Would this be the correct hose that I would need to order?

Replaced this hose on mine last week. Bought it from the dealership by my house for $45. They had it to me the next day. Fit like a glove and took about 45 mins to install.

As for the hose you have a picture of...that does look like the one in installed.

To make it clear...that was the hose i bought that went to the lower condensor fitting. I dont know if that is the suction or discharge tho.

Looks different than on our '98, but then things change from one year to the next.

That looks like your "Compressor to Evaporator hose"

The one you showed a link to was the hose from "condensor to dryer"

I bought mine from quadratec.com. BUT I bought multiple hoses so I dont know which one it was exactly. I looked at my invoice and found this...call them and double check.

ALSO, the top of my new hose nor my old one had that lil black cap on a valve. I dont know if that is a service port or what. Call dodge and ask them for the hose that goes form "compressor to evaporator" they can tell you what its called and get the one exactly for you. Their prices are not really that bad. About the same once you order from a site and pay shipping.

The compressor pushes refrigerant (high pressure, hot line) to the condenser (front of vehicle) and sucks refrigerant (low pressure, cold line) from the evaporator (under the dash). Usually, the larger tube at the compressor is low pressure and the smaller tube is high pressure. Between the cond and evap is a orifice tube or expansion valve, between the evap and compressor is a accumulator/dryer.

I will have to take a better look at my system tomorrow. I have purchased and recently replaced the blower motor resister, blower motor, AC fuse in the engine bay, my climate control fan does not work but I have the blower motor wired to a switch.

What is this AC switch do?

I was reading in the write up thread how someone replaced the blower motor in his XJ and that is what a experienced. I am just going to go through the system again to figure out what is going on.

Now about that lower radiator hose? What is the deal with those and they suck because?

What switch r u talking about.....the low pressure cycle switch on the accumulator/dryer or the vent selector switch on the dash? If unsure how old rad and heater hoses are, just replace with new ones from a auto parts store. How old are other cooling system components?
