ac and heater only blow hot
i have a 1999 cherokee sport. it's about 40 degrees and i turned on the heat for the first time. the temp control dial is at the coldest position but the heat is at the highest temp. i tried the air conditioning at all temp control positions and still the air only comes out hot. could this just be a faulty dial? any other ideas? thanks in advance for any help
thanks for your help. as soon as I posted that, from the road, I started up again and all of a sudden the heater control was responsive again. I have *some* mechanical abilities - do you think the valve or the door is the kind of thing I could have a look at or better left for a mechanic? thanks again.

heater control valve is going to be in the pass. side of the engine bay. Just follow the little hose going off your thermostat housing. As far as the heater door, on my 90 theres a little metal rod that comes out the bottom of the heater box. Mine has a cable to control it and when its pointing towards the pass. door, its in the heat only position, when its pointing towards the driver headlight, its closed and will only blow cold. Glad to hear you got things goin!
