Default AC Gasket questions re possible leak.

Hi Everyone

Installed a new AC compressor the other day and recharged to 35. Cold air for a minute but then dropped to room temp air. Suspect possible leak from the dual lines on the compressor (or maybe something else?) so I ordered an o ring gasket set.

just wondering what I do with all those rings. I think I know the two metal ones with black rubber interior go on the dual lines but what do I do with the rest of them. The two spring rings and all the green fellas.

Any information greatly appreciated and welcome.

thankyou!

Did you pull a vacuum to see if it holds most do 30 mins but I always do a couple hours. If it was only cold for a minute if it did leak out that's a major leak so are you sure you had enough freon in it and the compressor just didn't kick out due to not being charged enough?! As far as the oil rings goes pretty much where the lines as connections there is a o ring. The lines that connects via a disconnect (cannot remember the correct word as I haven't had coffee yet) you will need a tool to disconnect them and there will be a spring ring there.Remember to coat the orings with compressor oil when installing. Did you replace the dryer also? Evaporators are also a popular source of leaks.

So let's start by asking why did you replace the compressor? Did it leak? If the compressor failed it may have spewed debris into the system.

Pulling and maintaining a vacuum is critical!!! Did you? Do you have a set of manifold gauges? Also r-134a systems are filled by weight, not by PSI.

I'm assuming you bought an oring kit or it came with the compressor. Typically, when you remove a component, you pull out the old oring and then match it to one in the kit. You may have more orings in the kit than you actually need.
