Default AC drier connections use O-rings?

Hello all. I have a quick question about the ac drier.
1994 Jeep Cherokee Country 260,000 miles (4.0, auto) (this has been converted to 134 from r12)

I replaced the ac drier last year 2019, but apparently didn't do a very good job.

Recently, after i fully charged my system, a week or two later, thanks to a can of UV dye and a blacklight flashlight, i discovered ALL of my refrigerant leaked out of a line going into the drier.

Stock photo of drier below: here is the basic setup of the ac drier:

the ac drier has four ports coming from the top/sightlglass. one is capped, the other is for the ac clutch/pressure switch wire harness, one is for the line coming from the condenser, and the other is for the ac line coming from the metal txv box at the firewall.

the line coming from the condenser going into the port pointing toward the front of the vehicle is the one that was loose and leaking.

My basic, simple question is this: is there supposed to be an O-ring on both a/c line fittings that go into the drier?

and if so, exactly where do they belong!

i have a suspicion both lines do NOT have O-rings on the fittings.

thanks for any help!

i think i answered my question. but have a few more.

the seal on the a/c line coming from the condenser into the ac drier looks 'flat'.

is IT supposed to be like this? (photo) sorry for the terrible photo quality.

ADD AN ORING OVER EXISTING?

i thought they were more rounded and 'fat'....and the color green.

i'm going for replacing the suspect (compressed black) seal with an updated (green) rounded o-ring.

at least that's the advice i was given.

makes sense to me~!

apparently the black rings were designed for r12 systems, and the green rings for r134.

depending on what you read, the green rings are backwards compatible, but the black ones do not work well with r134. and in my case, in addition to being a quarter of a century old.

supposedly different chemical compounds of rubber between the two.
