Default AC Compressor takes Minutes to Turn on

I have a 1994 XJ and when I turn on the AC the compressor take about 2-5 minutes to turn on. Once it turns on cold air comes out.

Any idea what would cause that?

Loose belt or slipping AC compressor electric clutch.
If it blows cold air i don't think its low on freon.

Hit 94 deg. here today, used my AC for the first time of the year. It also took a few minutes to blow cold air.
Reason? The vent duct work was initially 94 deg.also and it takes time to cool that hot duct work off.

Yes I thought of that. I can hear the compressor turn on minutes after I turn on the AC.

BTW, it is very common to find a lot of corrosion on those relay connections...flip the PDC over and check the wiring and the connectors for power and ground for the relays

Just replaced the relay and now it works perfect. Sometimes it's the obvious thing that I forget to check.

Thank you
