Default ac compressor relay

got a 97 cherokee 2.5 liter. im in maine and it is cold. i was at a light and i heard a sound like the ac clutch was engaging every five seconds. i pulled over and popped the hood. was not doing it anymore and all looked fine. had the selector on heat/defrost. was wondering if pulling the ac relay would not make the clutch engage if that was the noise? since i do not use the ac at all. was considering yanking the whole thing outta there anyhow this summer since i will be driving it until its fate at a junkyard. would doing that affect anything like the windshield defroster? thanks.

Defrost will cause the AC compressor to kick in. Don't use defrost or bi-level any more. :-)

If you want, you can unplug the electrical connector from the Low Pressure Cycling Switch on top of the AC Accumulator. This will disable the AC so now you can use any setting on the mode selector an the AC won't kick in.

Plug it back when AC is needed.

not using the defroster is not an option up here. that is the gray connector, right? not at all interested with the ac. former owner said it does not hold a charge anyhow. planning on pulling it all out anyhow. thanks again...

You can still use defrost with it unplugged. The compressor runs for dehumidification purposes. Defrost will still work fine without it.

You might get a sticky feeling without the AC...depends on humidity.

Only time I get a sticky feeling is when I spill my beer in my lap.

I used to get a sticky feeling in my pants when I was a teenager on a stink finger date with a knock-out chick.

yuk yuk
