So I just bought my 2000 cherokee and the ac didnt work so I figured it just needed a refill. I filled it up to the right pressure but did not blow cold. Eventually I hotwired the switch to force the compressor clutch to engage and the air blew cold. After I added enough refrigerant I plugged the switch back in and I saw the clutch engage and disengage in my driveway but quickly after I left the air was warm and I tried to hotwire the switch but the clutch won't engage. Any ideas?

It's still low on coolant you need to fill it while the compressor is on and running.

Verify the pressure with it running before adding.
