Turned on the defrost this morning to clear the windshield and noticed what sounded like a loose belt (squeal). Popped the hood to hear the squeal coming from the aux fan. Should the aux fan be kicking on/off with the defrost running? I just unplugged the fan for the time being but then noticed the ac compressor kicking on for about 3-4 seconds at a time and shutting off. Is all this normal? with the defrost being used? air temp was set to max heat.
This only happens with defrost.
thanks

OK, found a thread stating compressor and electric fan DOES indeed turn on when defrost is used (and yes, I see defrost in title is "defraust"...not sure where that came from). So I guess I just need to focus on the squeal. Thanks.

Probably just failing bearings. You can get a new fan pretty cheap.
