Default AC Compressor

2001 XJ - I have good pressure in the system and power to the clutch but it won't engage. New compressor needed or can you just do the clutch on these units? Any recs for where to buy a replacement? Thanks...

well i just replaced mine. the clutch can be replaced. but is costly. brand new a/c compressors and also a pocket rocker...i went to a junkyard and got mine for about 80-100.. and installed myself. havent had problems in about a year.. that was just my opinion. but autozone seems to sell a pretty cheap one.

I found a whole kit on ebay for $178 plus shipping. I may try that.

You can change the clutch assembly without even having to remove the refridgerant. A nut on the shaft and a couple of snap rings, that is all there is to it.
