Default ABS light on - can I delete the system?

I've done a search and read about every thread on this, but can't find an adequate answer...

It's a 2001. I replaced my axle u-joints and cracked a tone ring. I got a new tone ring and pressed it on. it's on squarely, but after I replaced this the ABS light stays on. I went to a shop and its throwing an ABS code for a bad passenger sensor. The sensor is nice and clean, and was actually replaced two years ago. the tone ring spins true and identical to the driver side. What could be the correlation between the new tone ring and the ABS light? I need to fix this light to pass inspection

The real question: If I remove the two fuses and relay, and unplug the sensor wires from the back o the sensor under the back seat, will that disable the light as well as the system?

The light will still stay on, but you can pull the cluster out and remove the bulb, it only takes 15 minutes.

This may work for getting the light out, but it's possible that it will fail inspection if the shop scans the ABS codes with a code scanner. If they just look at it - you're ok, but they probably HAVE to hook the scanner up to do the inspection.
