I got my xj about a year to this date ago. And It seems that all xj's Air Conditioning doesn't work. What usually goes wrong? Do i need a new part or just a re-charge?
EDIT: It has never worked when i have owned it

just got mine working, took a few cans to recharge. I stopped for awhile because the compressor would kick on, read low pressure, then off and read too high of pressure. Found out I just had to keep filling it til the compressor stayed on.

you need to check for leaks otherwise it will leak out and you waste your money.

just by a can with the hose and gauge that go with it, and you can use it on the other can's too. little black plastic caps on your aluminum lines under the hood, look similar to the valve stems on your tires. they're two different sizes and the hose with the can will only fit on one. unless you have an older jeep that hasn't been converted to r134a. it's really easy, just follow the instructions on the can. may want to get the stuff with the stop leak in it.

Lot's of 10+ year old vehicles have non-functioning a/c. That's Detroit planned obsolescence for ya. The instructions are on the re-charge can.

they sell the cans with stop leak, oil lubrication and uv color to see if theres a leak. Very, very easy. I too had to put 2 cans through and drive a little between cans. I first used the uv with stop leak to make sure there were no leaks. Then added a can with the with the oil lube in it because it would squeal a couple minutes when i turned it on.That was a month ago, no squeal now and she's blowin cold air still. Didnt work at all before that.

Ya my ac works on my 2000 cherokee but I couldn't get it to work on my 94. I put two cans through it and it didnt work (think i had a leak) so I just drive my 2000 on really hot days! But anyways check for leaks before you recharge it otherwise you might just waste your money putting cans through your system (like me).
