SORRY PLEASE MOVE TO OEM CHEROKEE TECH
I posted a thread a few months ago trying to pinpoint my heat/ac problem, which is the common "only coming from defrost" problem. I haven't even registered it yet so I am just poking around getting things done here and there. I have inspected all vacuum lines under the hood and they are all fine. I then moved to inside the cab to inspect the other side of firewall. When I bought my XJ the glove box was missing the rubber stoppers that keep the glove box from falling to the floor, and after taking apart my heat/ac controls (specifically where the vacuum lines go in to change air direction control) I noticed it had been taken apart before and was actually put back together backwards. At first I didn't really think much about the glove box being "broken", but am now realizing someone must have been trying to fix the defrost problem, and failed. After I put the control back together correctly it still isn't working 100% but I do get some out of the floor vents now, so I know it was put together wrong but may be missing pieces. I just went ahead and ordered another one.
First question: Does anyone recall the amount of vacuum they had when pulling off the line cluster going into the back of controls? I have had other vehicles when I pull it off "vehicle running" and its an immense amount of suction and is very easy to hear. With my Jeep you can hear it but have to put your ear up to it, not a lot of suction but finger will suck onto it (barely). This makes me think (since I have a lot of suction in engine bay line going into firewall) that its possible my lines are clogged behind the dash, or leaking. I don't think they are leaking as I have turned the vehicle off with my ear up behind the glove box and I don't hear anything.
Second question: If anyone has a picture, or can take the time to go slide out those rubber stoppers for the glove box and snap a picture of the vacuum line cluster behind it. It looks exactly like the line cluster that goes into the back of the controls (numerous vacuum lines with different colored hoses). I would like this because after looking at mine there is a spot for vacuum line that is missing a hose. This very well may be from factory because the rest of the lines are connected by black tape which looks factory. I Know the person before me messed up the controls for sure but I am just curious if they did anything behind the glove box or did they just take a look. The picture will also help in the case that I am missing something back there I wouldn't know is suppose to be there, and not just for the vacuum line I mentioned. Sorry for the long post I just like to get all the info out there so we can skip the asking more questions part. Thanks.

fwiw i have read that the most notorious locale for leaks is under the battery where the lines run to the vac ball. i will look for the pics i took when i took out my dash i dont think they will be of any help cause they were at a distance but ill look
