'99 XJ Rear Windows
I have a '99 XJ that is a police package. It was and old Sheriff's Dept. ride and is in awesome shape. I have fought through a few minor issues, but I am stuck on one. The rear windows work from the front switch, but not the rear. I checked to make sure everything was hooked up as I already had the door panels off to hook the locks and door latches back up. I am stuck without getting a tech manual and wiring diagram. Just wonder if anyone else has been down this road especially with an ex LEO ride. To clarify the front passenger window does work though.

Did it have the divider between the front and back seats? Maybe they were set-up that way for the sheriff's dept> But check the window lock switch first.
Will the rear doors open from the inside?

Thers two wires you splice together in one of the kick panels. There is a thread somewhere on here about it. Had to do it no mine, though not a police xj.

One of the reasons I got mine so cheap, that and back hatch was stuck shut. That was a fun one. its usually the switch in the drivers door, good luck finding em in working shape at jy. Most of em are snaged. If you can find it on forum you splice two wires in kick panel it bypases faulty window lock and puts power to rears. Ill let ya know what to type in search to see how to fix.

It's the master window switch. They go faulty. If you are so inclined, open your drivers door and inspect the wires in the rubber boot. This is a common spot for wire cracking. The next step is to jump the wire harness as mentioned. It's safe, simple and works. Just do as the pic. Well, I soldered a jump wire between them. The paper clip isn't very reliable for the long term.
New window switches aren't exactly cheap and buying a used one if iffy too. Good luck.
This is behind a kick panel down at drivers side.

Thanks fellas I will check this out tonight. If it was the window lock switch being faulty would the front passenger window still work? Because mine works at the passenger side. The rear switches are the only one that are not operable. At any rate I will pop some panels open tonight. To the previous post about the divider it doesn't appear it ever had one. One thing I wish it still had were the spotlights, at least the holes and wiring are still there for when I order them.
