Default 99 XJ Headliner Replacement

Started to remove some of the plastic trim in preparation of replacing my headliner.

While removing the plastic trim at the hatch I broke one of the plastic that holds a metal clip onto the trim so now I am wondering at what other locations I will find these metal clips for I can try not to do any further damage.

Are there other metal clips that hold other trim in place or are there any metal clips or other devices that hold the headliner in that are not visible?

I can see the obvious, all screwed in plastic trim, visor screws, overhead console screws. What am I missing?

i don't remember even pulling the trim when i replaced mine. i just slid it in through the hatch and pulled the trim down enough so the headliner fit into place. so i can't really help you out there.

mine was on my 90 with a 98 headliner if i remember.

If I remember mine had like 2 or 4 of those clips but other than the seatbelt star bit it's pretty simple. Be careful at the front where the hinges to your doors are, mine are now cracked. I cleaned mine off and sprayed it down with spray on bed liner and it looks great, plus my son can't mess it up to bad as he bounces around

The trim pieces that go over the front doors and along side the windshield have 2 clips in them. One clip over the door and one clip along side windshield.

Ditto. I busted one of these. Fortunately it was not a clean break. Enough was left on the molding to know the position of it. I used the J.B. Weld. Part # 8276. Seemed to dry really solid and did not bust when I popped it back in. Now will it hold if I have to remove the molding again? Hope to never find out. Plus after doing that I am not 100% sure I needed to remove those 2 molding pieces to get the headliner out. Might have been able to pry/wiggle it out without removing them.
