'99 XJ 2-door crank window door panel
I have a 1999 XJ 2-door with crank windows. I need to know how to get the door panel off without breaking anything because the speaker on that side isn't working. I want to take the speaker out and confirm the size before I buy some new ones. I was also looking at replacing the head unit, is the dash hard to get apart and replace?

I don't know how different your 99 panels are compared to my 93, but I just pulled the window crank handle off first, it just snaps on, undid the door latch screws and pulled that little panel off, then just carefully pulled off the door panel by hand, working my way around the edge until all the fasteners pulled out. I guess some books recommend a special tool, or a flat putty knife, if you would feel more comfortable with that.

Well I managed to get the door panel off ok, but one of the speaker wires was broken so I stripped both ends of the wire and re-connected them, but that didn't seem to fix the problem. I know the speaker works because I checked it out in the other door. Any thoughts on how to access the back of the head unit and trace the wire?
