I have a 1999 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 (automatic). For some reason the jeep tries to start off in high gear, where it tends to bog down. You have to manually start the shift in low then move it to drive as you get going. Any opinion of what this could be would be very helpful. Thanks

Your looking at having to replace your transmission solenoids. Having to shift manually is a sign of a bad solenoid. Have the codes pulled and report the numbers back here.

This write up should help you. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/a...errerid=265073

Thank you for the response. I will be bringing my jeep home from my hunting camp next week and will try to get those codes pulled. Is changing the solenoid very involved or is it something the average person could possibly do?
