did this on my 95 H.O. motor.
easy.
if you have a H.O. if not, you either need to know porting, or you need to swap heads to H.O.
anyways, the intake itself is bolt-on. the number 5 cylinder intake needs to be sanded down on the bottom when installing with a borla header, and the header needs to be dinged in a bit too. just a tidbit.
anyways, bolts on with stock exhaust manifold. same as a stock replacement on a manifold (must remove intake AND exhaust and replace gasket after cleaning surfaces.
need a new O-ring set for the injectors.
swap the old injector rail onto the new intake
swap your old TB onto the new intake.
then swap the IAC sensor between the manifolds...you will need to relocate it to one of the other vacuum holes, but the threads are all the same.
then it's just a matter of doing what you have to to make the vacuum lines and PCV lines hook up to it.
easy. I will post pics of mine when I get back home (out on the road for work right now).

that was my write up. all I have to add are a few pictures lol.
old intake with borla. sorry, best pic I've got.
new intake with borla
here's how close the intake came to my borla. this isn't an issue you'll have with stock exhaust manifolds
The only other thing you need to do is swap the cable mount from the old intake to the new one. it's purely bolt-on.
link to my engine pics. sift through them and you should get some decent ideas.

welcome...
I'm sorry I can't tell you whether the intake gave me noticable power gain. it's a 95 motor and electrical and trans, but that's all in an 87 comanche. I put holes in 5 of the 6 pistons on the old renix 4.0 then seized it so I upgraded.
overall the entire performance has increased tremendously. the 95 motor has 3000 miles on it, is bored .030 over, has a borla header 2001 intake, 62mm bored throttle body, and 19lb injectors. she's fast, and I average between 17 and 24mpg now with it depending on driving conditions.

I was originally under the impression that one could simply swap out the air box/tube from their pre 99 rig for an air box/tube from a 99-01. I've since found out that this isn't quite as simple as that but still doesn't seem to be a huge project. I've heard figures such as 15hp gains resulting from this mod. I think numbers like those are seen when you upgrade the intake exhaust manifold as well.

Can this be done in the driveway? It sounds like it can, but you had your engine out in your pics, so I thought I'd better ask.

yup. better have someone with small hands or much patience though...the lower intake/exhaust manifold bolts are hard to get to.
only reason the motor was out was I was also swapping from renix to H.O. at the same time.
