The wiring is all disconnected under the kick panel.

For the pins, I believe people have had luck with 5/16" bolts, but the two holes (for a 97+) are different diameters because one has bushings.
That is exactally what i was wondering...thank ya

I have a 1996 4 door. I didn't have to wire any switches or remove any fuses. If you follow the general route of the wiring from the door into the vehicle you should find 2 quick disconnect style plugs. One large black one, and a smaller colored one. The large black one should be for your door-ajar pressure switch, the other for your speaker. Simply unplug the black one and problem solved. I'll try and get a pic posted.

See, I'm planning on moving my speakers, and putting in the toggle switch just because I have manual windows, mirrors, and locks. Only wires I have are 2 from the speaker. I'm moving the speaker, so then I have no wire to worry about ever, and the toggle with be much better then having to unplug anything. IMO.

Thanks,
J

So I did this yesterday on my '94. But I had the '97+ hinges on the drivers door, and the pre '97 hinges on all the other doors. What a PITA. The pre '97 are much easier. I the the '97+ and now I have to pick it up alittle bit when I close it. I did what the write-up said, and got the 5/16" grade 8 bolts for the hinge pin. Do you think it would help if I installed a 5/16" sleeve to help hold the bolt in place? and I don't have access to a welder, would that jb weld stuff work, and hold?

Is this really legal? HA!!!! got door?

Thanks,
J

That was my question...I know it's legal on Wrangler's because doors are an option, but never knew about Cherokee's. They look badass without the doors.

I had mine off yesterday for awhile, (before it dropped down into the 50's) But I got a ton of weird looks from people. I even stopped by the parts store, and when one of the dilivery guys came back he ran in and told the other guys "there was a XJ out front with no front doors!" All the guys just looked at me and pointed.....

Nice, I'd love to take them off my 96 (I only have the 2 door so it would look bad ***) it's just the police around here are real pieces of work so I'd have to look up the laws and stuff before I tackle it.

As long as you have mirrors on it should be legal, just make sure you wear your seat belt cause there is no way to hide it with out a door not to mention you might fall out

i am a little jelious of you dorrless guys cause i am not going doorless

Ahh yeah good point, falling out wouldn't be good. But I gotta come up with something for mirror mounts then.

Take a mirror that has a bolt size that will fit in the door bracket and you just need a driver mirror to be legal in IL
