i have a 99 cherokee classic 4.0 i have been having problems with lots.
i have had a squealing noise when i turn my ac on then after a little bit of running the sqeal stops and all is good. but recently i have multiple problems. like when i start my jeep i have to keep on the gas or it will die.
i could be driving it and then loose my power steering and then it dies.
i have noticed to that when i am driving it, when i turn my ac on i get a loud sqeal and my battery guage drops completly until i shut my ac off then the guage reads normal. now today my jeep wont start at all almost acts like dead battery, but its new i have tested it and has proper voltage but i cant even get it to start with jumper cables. i have planned on changing the serpentine belt just because of the problems with everything tied to it but i have proper tension on the belt and it doesnt look to bad.

Have you checked your a/c compressor? The clutch on it could have gotten stuck or just broke. Try to unplug the a/c compressor. If the clutch is magnetized this will let it come loose. Try to started and post whatever happens.

 

well i didnt have to unplug it. i just tried starting it and it started, but with the ac on i get a squeal that almost sound like it is coming from the power steering pump, and my voltage drops a little with it on, but when i turn the blower up on the ac the voltage really drops until i turn the blower down... im lost

 

Have you checked the belt tension?
