Default 99 AW-4 Transmission mount crossmember mounting difficulties.

Hello Forum ,

Im currently in the middle of replacing the transmission mount on my 99 xj 4.0L Automatic Aw-4. I am struggling with correctly mounting the transmission crossmember to the Unibody. The replacement mount is Anchor #2625 which is listed for a 99 , the mounting studs are slightly off compared to the worn OEM. My problem is that I cannot line up the crossmember to the frame after I have attached the four nuts mounting the crossmember to the new mount. The stud on the unibody is off by about 1/2 inch and cannot be aligned any closer. Has anybody experienced this problem before? If so any tips for me? This is far from the first time I have done this job on a XJ , I am extremely stuck on this and would appreciate any help .
Thanks!!

Have you tried turning the mount around, like 180 degrees? I'm pretty sure I've come across a thread in the past dealing with this same issue, and it turned out it was that...

I just did this on the weekend and had the same problem. I used a hammer. It worked but careful on the threads if you do that.

I have not tried turning the mount 180 degrees , I think its lined up right but will do anyways. KikiLink what do you mean use a hammer? Im thinking Im going to need a large prybar to move the crossbar enough to align up with everything.

If you have any kind of transfer case drop, tweaked crosmember, or shot motor mounts things may not line up without the use of ratchet straps or pry bars. Verify the mount is correct before using force. Also check to make sure the exhaust hanger is not messing you up.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got it in before I headed to work. I just needed to sit back and look at the situation a bit. I realized to install the new mount I needed to assemble it with all the fasteners loose, then tighten to spec once everything was all lined up.

Thanks for the feedback, and some good advice to try for future reference.
