Hey new issue today for you to review.
Since I had the truck the headlights never stayed on when I shut them off.
Last night I installed a new stereo and 4ch amp and ran new wires.
I am having some issue with whining in the speakers, I did run the rca's opposite side from the power cable. The remote and 1 speaker wire does run with the power wire.
But since the install the headlights "feature" a stay on mode when I shut down the car.
If the radio is on when I shut down the car the "headlight feature" does turn off 90% of the time after 30s.
If the radio is off when I shut down the car the headlights do not turn off.
Putting the key back in and turning it over a click turns off the lights....
Looking for some insight on the issue...

That's weird since he radio and headlights don't come close to each other.... Check fuses of course and you might have a delay fuse or relay in your fuse block pull it out. When I got my 89 it had one. And my headlights would flicker forever after the engine was off. I just took it out. Simple as thatOriginally Posted by BluJay

My 98 does the same thing. I just turn the headlights off before I turn the engine off.

Unplugging the headlight delay module may solve your problem... it's located under the kick panel.
Really the stereo wiring should have nothing to do with your headlights. On your stereo wiring harness there's and orange/white wire. This is a dash light/dimmer wire. Disconnect this and see what happens there. Other than that I can't think of any reason why your new stereo would affect the headlights.

Yeah very strange coincidence, disconnecting anything makes no change. Must of knocked something around during install.
Just like my doors don't electric lock now, when car's off and the gauges stop working. >.
