Default 98 XJ Stuck quick disconnect at fuel rail

Hi

I cannot get the quick disconnect at the fuel rail apart on my 98 XJ. (4.0) I have tried lubricant also tried beveling an extra disconnect tool. The removable piece does not move away from the flange at all. I cannot get the disconnect tool to move into the removeable piece at all!!! It is pretty rusty and has never been removed.
This is all in the process of replacing the exhaust manifold...

suggestions?
Thanks!
Mike

Just went through this on a 99. The fuel rail was real crusty so I wanted to replace it but the quick disconnect fitting was rusted up real bad so I ended up spraying the inside where the fingers or clips are that your trying to get disconnected from the fitting with pb blaster for a few days then worked at it until finally the because unseized and I was able to remove the fitting with the disconnect tool

spray degreaser or lubricant in continually while working the fitting back & forth with various release tools

The issue can be that grit builds up inside and actually prevents the ring from moving back far enough to allow separation

When I struck similar trouble, I used cheap degreaser, and it washed out the grit

not all "quick release" tools are born equal either

one can make a custom item by making a slit in tubes that have close enough dimensions, if the the store bought ones dont quite fit

Ok...I got it apart!! I doused it with PB overnight. Came back dousing it more with both PB and degreaser. I figured I needed something other than the remover tool to poke at it, so I fashioned the screwdriver tool, grinding it down to fit and bending it for clearance and leverage. I poked at the prongs a bunch of times with that, dousing it all the while. I had also beveled the edge of the removal tool, figuring possible better leverage. Used the removal tool as required and it popped out!! Woo-Hoo!! Thank you both for steering me in the right direction. I knew I'd get an answer here!!
